This interactive applet allows users to explore variables that affect resistance in a wire. As students adjust resistivity, length, and area of a wire, the size of the symbols in the equation changes to reflect the variations. Numeric values of each variable are also displayed.
This page also includes samples of learning goals and user-submitted ideas for instructional use. It is part of a larger collection of materials developed and maintained by the Physics Education Technology project (PhET) based on principles of physics education research.
