This item is an introductory undergraduate lab designed to promote understanding of the scientific method.  Using a simple pendulum apparatus, students design an experiment to determine factors affecting the period of the pendulum.  Tasks include hypothesis statement, identification of independent/dependent variables, data collection, graphing data, and analysis of results.

This item is part of a larger collection of introductory physics labs by the authors.  See Related items on this page for a link to the full index.
