This applet demonstrates the forces acting on a mass rotating on a carousel. The period, distance between the suspension points and the axis of rotation, length of the rope, and mass can be set by the user. The resultant motion is displayed. A free-body diagram for the masses and numerical values for the quantities involved are given.

This applet is a part of a large collection of physics applets available in a variety of languages.

Please note that this resource requires at least version 1.4.2 of Java.
