This two-volume modern textbook for introductory calculus-based college physics courses emphasizes qualitative as well as quantitative reasoning, and puts heavy emphasis on atomic-level description and analysis. The 4th edition, published in 2015, features a larger collection of computational problems, plus new approaches to specific topics. Good approach

I really admire the approach of this text...I actually liked the older edition (of the E&M text) where you filled in the boxes as you went, but the explicit linkage between mechanics, microscopic phenomena, and the stick and ball model of matter really is a satisfying way to learn about physics...
