In this short video, adapted from NOVA scienceNOW, Neil deGrasse Tyson describes the amazing tensile strength of carbon nanotubes and how they might be used to construct
a space elevator. Animations show different forms of carbon. The video includes clips from an experiment that uses the forces between nanotubes to bind them into a long filament.
