At this site from the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory, you'll find an explanation of neutrinos and of the former discrepancy between theoretical models and solar neutrino data--known as the Solar Neutrino Problem (SNP). You'll see a brief history of the study of neutrinos and a discussion of the problem, along with role of the Sudbury in studying neutrinos.
