Patrick L. Barry
This site presents an article from Science@NASA describing the physics concepts related to building sand castles, sand in earthquakes, and other interesting physical properties of wet sand. A NASA shuttle mission in 2002 carried wet sand into space and returned with valuable lessons for physicists, some of which are shared here. The user can listen to the article via streaming audio or a downloadable file. This web page also offers animations of sand during earthquakes and links to other related sites.
