The Astronomy Center has provided educational resources to introductory astronomy educators since 2003. Over the past 20 years, the rapid pace of discovery has rendered some of our linked resources obsolete. Thus, the Astronomy Center will be decommissioned on March 1, 2022. Our highest quality resources will be retained on ComPADRE.org.

This site discusses the different types of active galaxies: Double-Lobed radio galaxies, Seyfert Galaxies, BL Lac Objects, and quasars. These pages discuss the structure, components, behavior, and provide an image or diagram for each type. It also provides information about the role black holes may have in understanding active galaxies and an image of a suspected black hole at core of a NGC4261. This site ends with a short quiz.
