The EJS Measurement with Phidgets: Solar Collector interfaces Phidget transducers that are part of a solar collector project. The package uses a servo motor with a Phidget 1066 Motor Controller and a thermocouple with a Phidget 1048 Temperature Sensor. The Phdiget driver must be installed. The instructions are for an introductory physics lab. Once Ejs is installed, right-clicking within the plot and selecting "Open Ejs Model" from the pop-up menu item allows for editing of the model and, in particular, editing the serial number of the Hardware (as described in the lab instructions).
The Measurement with Phidgets model was created using the Easy Java Simulations (Ejs) modeling tool. It is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive. Double clicking the ejs_PhidgetSolarCollector.jar file will run the program if Java is installed. Ejs is a part of the Open Source Physics Project and is designed to make it easier to access, modify, and generate computer models.
Please note that this resource requires
at least version 1.5 of Java (JRE).

4G (9-12) #5. Magnetic forces are very closely related to electric forces and can be thought of as different aspects of a single electromagnetic force. Moving electric charges produce magnetic forces and moving magnets produce electric forces. The interplay of electric and magnetic forces is the basis for electric motors, generators, and many other modern technologies, including the production of electromagnetic waves.
