Tell them that you are traveling on "OSU business", and that you are an invited participant in the "June physics workshop". They will bill us directly for your ticket, after contacting us for approval.

Please book your ticket as soon as possible, and make economical choices.

Please plan to arrive in Corvallis in time for dinner on Thursday, June 5, and to depart on Sunday, June 8. You will almost certainly want to fly into Portland (PDX), which is 2 hours away; Eugene (EUG) is closer, but flights are less frequent, more expensive, and airport transportation is more difficult.

Airport transportation

The easiest way to get to and from PDX is via shuttle:

(There is no convenient shuttle from EUG.)

PDX Shuttles run every 2 hours, leaving PDX from 4:45 AM to 12:45 AM, and leaving Corvallis from 2 AM to 10 PM; the trip takes 2.5 hours. Shuttles have power and WiFi.

Please make your own shuttle booking; a roundtrip ticket ($85) to the Corvallis Hilton Garden Inn is best. We will reimburse you after the conference.

YOU WILL ALSO NEED TRANSPORTATION FROM THE HILTON TO YOUR HOTEL.
We will arrange this for you so long as we know which shuttle you are on.

May 28 Update! THE INFORMATION BELOW SUPERCEDES THE PREVIOUS INFORMATION ABOUT RENTING FROM HERTZ, WHICH IS NO LONGER AN OPTION.

Alternatively, you can rent a car.  Enterprise provides 1-way rentals at $30-40 for OSU business travel, to/from both PDX and EUG.  However, if you are inclined to rent a car, and are willing to drive other participants back and forth within Corvallis, we will cover a Thursday-Sunday roundtrip rental.

Driving time from PDX is roughly 2 hours; from EUG roughly 45 minutes.

1-way car rentals must be booked by us in order to get the discounted rate; if that's what you want, please contact Tevian with your desired booking information.

You can follow the same procedure for 3-day rentals, but a roundtrip rental may be cheaper if you book it yourself.  If that's what you prefer, please confirm the acceptability of the rate with Tevian before spending any money.

In either case, you will still need to pay for gas yourself; we'll reimburse you afterward, so keep the receipts.

We will make reservations for all invited participants for 3 nights (Thu, Fri, Sat); if that's not right, please let us know ASAP.

If you wish to take an early flight home on Sunday, June 8, you may want to spend Saturday night near the Portland airport, rather than in Corvallis. This is fine with us, and there is an 8 PM shuttle you should be able to catch without missing any of the workshop.

If you choose this option, please ask Teel's to book you a room near the airport, but you should plan to pay for it yourself; we will reimburse you afterward. PLEASE ALSO GIVE US THIS INFORMATION DIRECTLY SO THAT WE CAN CANCEL YOUR HOTEL ROOM IN CORVALLIS FOR THAT NIGHT.
