The GR Classical Exploding program uses Newtonian mechanics to simulate the orbits of objects that explode near a central massive object. It also shows the effective potential of the orbiting particle. The default configuration is an explosion located at r = 1.
GR Classical Exploding is part of a suite of Open Source Physics programs that model aspects of General Relativity. It is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive. Double clicking the gr_classical_exploding.jar file will run the program if Java is installed. Other programs provide additional visualizations. They can be found by searching ComPADRE for Open Source Physics, OSP, or General Relativity. Please note that this resource requires at least version 1.5 of Java.
