This item is a teacher's guide to a set of inquiry-based classroom demonstrations and clicker questions on waves. It was designed specifically for use with three PhET simulations: Wave on a String, Sound, and Wave Interference. Students explore the pattern of a reflected wave, patterns from interfering waves, and learn to predict change in frequency resulting from the Doppler effect. The clicker questions are available in Power Point format to allow for editing.
This resource is part of a much larger set of teacher-created materials developed to supplement the PhET collection of interactive physics simulations. SEE RELATED MATERIALS ON THIS PAGE for a links to the related simulations.
This resource is part of a Physics Front Topical Unit.
Topic: Wave Energy
Unit Title: How Waves Move and Interact: Reflection, Refraction, Interference A set of three classroom demonstrations to be used with PhET simulations Wave on a String, Sound, and Wave Interference. Students explore wave reflection, patterns from interfering waves, and the Doppler Effect. The accompanying concept (clicker) questions may be downloaded in Power Point format and adapted for individual teacher use. NOTE: This resource is accessible only to registered PhET users, but registration is free and easy. Link to Unit:
