The Astronomical Society of the Pacific is an international nonprofit scientific and educational organization founded in 1889 that works to increase understanding and appreciation of astronomy. The society provides a broad variety of educational materials, including The Universe in the Classroom, a free web-based teacher's newsletter. Also available are astronomy-related activities for K-12 classrooms, annotated lists of astronomy resources, and outreach materials for those interested in forming astronomy clubs. Of particular note is the Night Sky Network, a nationwide coalition of astronomy clubs created to bring the science and inspiration of NASA's missions to the public.
