Teaching About Energy: Using Less Fuel to Heat and Cool Your Home
written by
John Roeder
This student activity is designed to study energy flow and conservation. The rate at which the temperature of water increases in different containers is used to explore the insulating properties of the containers. Students are provided an introduction to heat flow and insulating properties of materials. Included are notes for instructors wishing to use this material.
This activity is part of a PTRA manual on Energy.
Book Title:
Teaching about Energy
This resource is part of a Physics Front Topical Unit.
Topic: Conservation of Energy
Unit Title: Global Issues Related to Energy Resources This student activity explores energy flow and conservation and was developed to help students make responsible choices in use of energy resources. It is part of a workshop manual on Energy by the PTRA, (Physics Teacher Resource Agents). Link to Unit:
