These web pages contain adaptations of traditional Interactive Lecture Demonstrations (ILDs) to promote active learning of physics concepts for students working at home. These can used as active learning components of an online introductory physics course. These activities use easily available simulations, such as those from Physlets and PhET, to substitute for hands-on experiments and demonstrations normally used with ILDs. The important component of having students make predictions before their observations is retained, although students need to be made to understand the importance of making predictions before they proceed with observations. These activities can also be also be used with synchronous remote classes, with group discussions facilitated through remote break-out rooms.
