The NEED Project is a national initiative to bring innovative curriculum materials in energy education to teachers and learners from the primary grades through college. At the core of the project's work are the portfolios of 120+ comprehensive curriculum guides, featuring inquiry-based explorations of the physics and chemistry of energy. Each unit provides teacher and student guides with printable data tables and worksheets. Specific topics include: forms of energy, renewable and nonrenewable sources of energy, electricity, efficiency and conservation, and transportation.
In addition, the site offers robust interactive maps of data such as total energy consumption by state, U.S. electric power generation, nuclear reactors, and more. Also provided is a Question Bank that allows teachers to customize evaluation tools for their energy units. Please note that this resource requires Flash, or Java Applet Plug-in.
