This is a short biography of George Ohm, the 19th-century German physicist who formulated Ohm's Law, which describes the mathematical relationship between electrical current, resistance, and voltage. Ohm took a mathematical approach to electricity and magnetism, at a time when most of his peers were relying much more on lab experimentation. Read about his perseverance in the face of significant adversity and initial poor reception to his theory by scientific peers.

Topic: Electricity and Electrical Energy
Unit Title: Electricity: A Historical Perspective

German physicist Georg Ohm was different, and his fellows at the time were not too supportive. This early giant in the field of electricity took a mathematical approach to electric current, at a time when his peers relied almost exclusively on lab experimentation. His perseverance resulted in Ohm's Law, which clarified the relationship between electrical current, resistance, and voltage. This is his biography.
