Problem 4.8: Energy level transitions matched with spectral lines
Please wait for the animation to completely load.
The spectrum shows part of the Balmer spectrum (light associated with a transition to the n = 2 level) for a single electron atom with more than one proton in its nucleus (i.e., it is not hydrogen). What is it (is it singly ionized helium, doubly ionized lithium, triply ionized beryllium)? Restart. The units of wavelength on the graph are nm.
