FDW 2019 Logistics and Schedule

ARRIVAL INFORMATION

For those getting picked up at the airport: Meet outside Terminal 1 door number 2 on the baggage claim level. (Note, there is a road above this!) Don’t forget there are two terminals at MSP. Southwest arrives at Terminal 2.

Please check the ARRIVALS document for information on your pick up time from the airport.

For those driving: We will be staying at Lydecker Living and Learning Center at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls (851 Wild Rose Ave, River Falls, WI 54022). GPS coordinates : (44.8511111,-92.6147500). Parking lot O is adjacent to the building. You will receive a parking pass at check-in. There is no permanent staff in the dorms. If you arrive and there is no one to check you in, please contact one of the people listed in the ARRIVALS document..

UW-River Falls housing and meal information:

We will be staying in dorm rooms at Lydecker Living and Learning Center at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls (840 Wild Rose Ave, River Falls, WI 54022). Bed linens and towels are provided, but not toilettries. Rooms have a microwave and fridge. There is a grocery store and a co-op within walking distance. We suggest you bring a sweater and raincoat/umbrella.

There will be a catered dinner on Tuesday 7/9 at 6pm in the Ballroom at University Center, and a catered lunch at noon on Sunday 7/14 at Lydecker. All other meals will be at Riverside Commons inside the University Center building. You will receive a meal pass at check-in. At Riverside Commons breakfast is served 7:30am - 8am, lunch is served 11:30m - 12:00pm, and dinner is served 5pm - 5:30pm; the cafeteria is open one half-hour after these times if there are still people there. Meals are not served at other times.

gopicup.slack.com is the main communications/collaboration software used by PICUP.

DAILY PARTICIPANT GOAL: Outline of Computational Integration Plans

9:00-10:15 Spreadsheet Physics 

This session is intended to provide a brief demonstration of the usefulness of the ubiquitous spreadsheet tool, and a refresher on the modified Euler algorithm applied to the ODEs for velocity and position, while setting the working mood for the workshop. Even seasoned spreadsheet users will benefit from this session.

This session will provide a practical approach to setting learning goals and objectives for your students.
