Light and Shadow Model
written by Andrew Duffy
The Light and Shadow Model shows light that either passes through a mask with a hole in it, or it is blocked by an object, as it travels to a screen on the right. The user can turn on and off two light bulbs (red and blue) and drag the bulbs around the screen to change their positions. Investigate how the patterns of light and shadows change as you move the bulbs, the mask or object, and/or the screen, and as you change the size of the mask or object.

The Light and Shadow Model was created using the Easy Java Simulations (EJS) modeling tool.  It is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive.  Double clicking the ejs_bu_Light_and_Shadow.jar file will run the program if Java is installed.

Please note that this resource requires at least version 1.5 of Java (JRE).
