Random Walk 1D Continuous Model
written by Wolfgang Christian
The EJS Random Walk 1D Continuous Model simulates a 1-D random walk with a variable step size. You can change the number of walkers and probability of going right and left. You can modify this simulation if you have Ejs installed by right-clicking within the plot and selecting "Open Ejs Model" from the pop-up menu item.

The Random Walk 1D Continuous Model was created using the Easy Java Simulations (Ejs) modeling tool.  It is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive.  Double clicking the ejs_stp_RandomWalk1D.jar file will run the program if Java is installed.  Ejs is a part of the Open Source Physics Project and is designed to make it easier to access, modify, and generate computer models.  Additional Ejs models are available.  They can be found by searching ComPADRE for Open Source Physics, OSP, or Ejs.

Please note that this resource requires at least version 1.5 of Java (JRE).

First Walker doesn't move

With the default setting #=1, the Walker doesn't move. With #=2 only one Walker moves, the other standing still at 0 etc.

To change this:

Decrease i under Evolution

for(int i=0; i

Evolution bug fixed so that walker[0] also moves.
