The STP IsingMeanFieldSolution program uses Newton's method to calculate solutions to the mean-field approximation to the equation of state of the Ising model. The program also displays the free energy as a function of the magnetization m for given values of T and the magnetic field H. The default is a temperature T = 1, the number of nearest neighbors q = 4, and there is no external field.
STP IsingMeanFieldSolution is part of a suite of Open Source Physics programs that model aspects of Statistical and Thermal Physics (STP). The program is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive. Double clicking the stp_IsingMeanFieldSolution.jar file will run the program if Java is installed on your computer. Additional programs can be found by searching ComPADRE for Open Source Physics, STP, or Statistical and Thermal Physics.
Please note that this resource requires
at least version 1.5 of Java.
