Faraday Loop in Changing Field

written by Anne Cox

The Faraday Loop Changing Field Model shows the induced emf in a changing external magnetic field. You can control the frequency, magnitude and type of variation in the external field as you would in the laboratory when using a function generator to produce current in a large coil. You can also change the size and orientation of the conducting loop. If Ejs is installed, right-clicking within the plot and selecting "Open Ejs Model" from the pop-up menu item allows for editing of the model.

The Faraday Loop Changing Field model was created using the Easy Java Simulations (Ejs) modeling tool.  It is distributed as a ready-to-run (compiled) Java archive.  Double clicking the ejs_em_FaradayLoopChangingField.jar file will run the program if Java is installed.  Ejs is a part of the Open Source Physics Project and is designed to make it easier to access, modify, and generate computer models.
