Tracker vers 6.3.4 released

Hello Tracker users, version 6.3.4 is now ready.

This version adds a "Fast" option to autotracker that, for maximum speed, only refreshes plots and tables when it has finished autotracking. When fast tracking is turned off, plots and tables are continuously refreshed (as long as Auto-refresh is on) and autotracking proceeds at a slower pace that is determined by the video play rate of the video player. This controlled rate, which can be quite slow if desired, is very useful when predicting and then observing plots in lectures and labs.

There is also an important bug fix, so even if you don't need the autotracker improvements you should upgrade.

To upgrade, click the green "Now available" button on the toolbar and choose Upgrade Now. This will take you to the Tracker home page where you can download the full installer or upgrade installer for your platform. If you don't see the green button choose Help|Check For Upgrades. You can also download installers directly from ComPADRE at http://www.opensourcephysics.org/items/detail.cfm?ID=7365.

Cheers! Doug

Doug,

First I want to say thank you for such a great, and well thought out application. I'm new to Tracker but learning fast. My application is to present evidence to my local police of speeders on our street.

One thing I noticed, however, is LMT units always default to metric. I know, I know. That's not how academia likes to operate. But can we at least have the option to set new LMT default units?

Cheers,
Mark Brasche

Tracker 6.3.4, Xubuntu Linux 24.04LTS.

Hi Mark, that's a very good idea and not hard to implement--so I have added settable default units to Tracker version 6.3.5!  The upgrade installer for Linux is already available at:

https://opensourcephysics.github.io/tracker-website/installers/upgrade/TrackerUpgrade-6.3.5-linux-x64-installer.run

Does this do what you want? Cheers! Doug
