When I hold down the shift key, I get a small square. If I hold shift then control (together), I do not see the circular pattern that indicates I can place a key frame.
Again, I've done a number of combinations of key pushes, but am unable to place a key frame.
I've tried using both a separate mouse, and the track pad mouse.
I also tried downloading an older 32 bit version, but again with no result.
The university computers won't let me download and execute the Tracker app, so I have to use my personal computer.
We're trying to track part of a needle using microscopic videos to get the frequency response under the influence of a varying magnetic field. At high magnification, the needle is not perfect, so we are trying to track one of the imperfections along to assess motion.
And just so everyone is aware what problem and solution were.
My computer has a "touch bar" at the top of the key board. I've never found it much use. Apple decided the "escape" key at the top left was fine as part of the touch bar instead of as a real key (I believe they have since changed that).
Anyway, because some programs use the touch bar - the esc key disappears. The work around is to reprogram another key in system preferences to function as the escape key. At some point in the past, I had changed my command key to function as the escape key. Hence, no key frame...
To place key frames on a Mac, the key press is Command - Shift - Click - in that order.
