no codec set for coder

We have several .mov files to analyze. They will not import and the message log says "No codec set for coder."

The files are not particularly large, 10 to 20 MB. They were made with the same cameras that produced successful video files just two days ago. They play just fine in an app like VLC. I've done all the standard troubleshooting up to and including uninstalling and reinstalling Tracker.

Should work. Haven't had this problem before and I'm kind of baffled. Error message attached.

The correct answer is the file is too large. I trimmed it some and it worked. Which brings up the next question: what is the file size limit?

I did a little more investigation. iPhones by default these days apparently encode using the h.265 codec. Apparently, Xuggle doesn't understand this format. Using a video editor to save them as mp4 in an mov container fixed the problem.

Thank you very much for this post!

I ran into that problem too lately and was almost giving hope all hope but than i found this. I used the VLC media player to convert my files and it finally worked. You really have saved me!
