As additional information the Tracker says the xuggle and quicktime are not installed. I've installed and uninstalled all of these programs. What can it be?
Dear Lookang, I've tried a lot of vídeo formats but, unfortunately any vídeo can be opened include the vídeos included on Tracker instalation (as .../Tracker/vídeos/bouncing_cart.mov). As I said, I have xuggle and quicktime installed on Win 8.
My previous notebook was a Win 7 and Tracker Works as well.
Dear Lookang, Wallace is my undergraduate student and I tested his videos files just now and I have the same problem of his under Win 8. Tracker says thar xuggle is instaled, but doesn't works. Also example videos of tracker installation have the same problem. So, I performed the installation of Tracker on Linux (Fedora 20) and tested the same files. For my surprise, all files opened and Tracker works fine.
If I understand correctly you both installed version 4.86 on Windows 8 and in both cases Xuggle does not work. But Wallace had a previous installation on Windows 7 that did work. Is that correct?
Can you check to see if the environment variables TRACKER_HOME and XUGGLE_HOME have been set on your Win 8 machines? Also, please choose Help|Diagnostics|About Java to find the path of your Java VM, then tell me if the file "xuggle-xuggler.jar" is in the lib/ext folder within the Java VM.
I'm glad you got your notebook working. Now when you choose Help|Diagnostics|About Xuggle it shows you the xuggle version, etc, correct? What about Help|Diagnostics|About Quicktime?
Comparing your results of About Xuggle and About QuickTime with Wallace, can you tell the difference?
Another environment VARIABLE to look at is the Path which should include the same path as XUGGLE_HOME but with \bin added. See screenshot attached.

Everything you Suggested is ok. But the video still not opening. What could be beyond these possibilities? Because the pc Pacheco and my tracker was installed the same way.
Should I do something different for it to work on windows 8 as well as works on linux?
Unfortunately I do not have a Windows 8 machine I can test on, so I am at a loss what the problem is for you, particularly since Pacheco has been able to get Tracker working on his Windows 8 pc.
Are there any other Windows 8 users reading this who have Tracker running successfully (or who have failed to get Tracker working)? If so, please reply: did you have to do anything special to get Tracker and/or Xuggle working right? Does the QuickTime video engine also work with Tracker on Windows 8?
I Believe to be some detail that is messing me up. I greatly appreciate the dedication and attention to my problem. I will try to perform the settings again and inform you the news.
