Setting the decimal separator

Hi!

Is it possible to control what decimal separator is used in tables? My system standard is comma as in 3,14159 (Sweden), but I would like to be able to use decimal point instead (3.14159).

I need decimal point numbers for pasting into non-localized applications such as Geogebra, which does not interpret numbers with decimal commas correctly.  Strangely, numbers are sometimes shown with decimal points in the Tracker tables, but I cannot figure out why or control when.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Mattias,

There is a way to do what you want: open the preferences dialog (Edit|Preferences) and in the Display tab set the language to english. Then relaunch and reopen your trk file. All numbers should then be displayed with a decimal point. Note that just changing the language doesn't change the numbers--you have to set the preferred language and relaunch.

I'm interested to know exactly where you have seen numbers with decimal points when using Tracker in Swedish. Can you send me a screen shot when you see this (direct to my email dobrown@cabrillo.edu)?  Thanks!

Doug

Thanks for your answer! I'll try that.

It tried changing languages, but was not aware of the specifics you mention. So probably I did just what you suggest, which would imply I got decimal points with the language set to English and not Swedish.

Cheers

After following your instructions I have decimal points. If I then switch back to Swedish again (Edit --> LAnguage), the decimal points remain.

Mattias--is this (user interface in swedish but with decimal points) what you want?  It is a bit of a convoluted process, but if it works for you then I won't make any changes to the code ;-)  Doug
