HELP! Tracker-6.1.1.jar identified as malware by Windows

My school requires use of Tracker, however the installation fails. After a little more digging, I figured out that Windows identifies the tracker.jar/tracker-6.1.1.jar as a virus/trojan called Trojan:Script/Wacatac.B!ml. I am unable to workaround it unless I disable the whole of Windows Defender. Please remedy this issue immediately.

Hello Vidhun, I doubt this very much. There has been no prior report of this issue and Tracker is regularly tested for malware by Softpedia and found to be 100% clean. To look into this further we would need much more specific, convincing and reproducible evidence.

Hello,

I just tried downloading tracker for school and I came across the same issue where Windows would block the download due to an affected file. Please see uploaded image.

Please provide additional information. Is the Defender warning occurring when Tracker is being installed or when it is being run?  Do you receive this message if you use Tracker on computers that are not on the school network?

We believe that Defender giving a false positive malware warning for Tracker but we have submitted the jar file to Microsoft for analysis.

In meantime, we encourage you to use the online version of Tracker as it uses only JavaScript -- not Java.

The only difference the standalone and online versions of Tracker is that the video clips in the online version must be HTML 5 compatible.  Use mp4 format with the H264 codec.

I am using my personal computer from home. Windows Defender was giving me a notification of a 'threat' during the install of Tracker (towards the end) and after that, it finishes the install but it fails to load Tracker when I try to open the application. However, I just tried re-installing Tracker and it installed just fine this time around. I am now able to use Tracker with no issues.
Thank you!
