Install tracker on Mac Computer -- Password needed?

I attempted to install tracker on school Mac computer so that our students can use it in class. When I try to install the program, it asks for password. I am little confused since it's an open source program. So I send an email to administrator on the website.
In case other colleagues have similar questions, I post Doug Brown's answer here.
"The installer requires administrator privileges on the Mac so you must enter your login account password (this is NOT a special password for Tracker itself). Once Tracker is installed, you will not need to enter the password to use it."
