This web page is a Java animation relating displaying two pendulum oscillations: a small pendulum amplitude of 20 degrees and a large amplitude of 135 degrees. The user can see the graph of simple harmonic motion generated by the smaller amplitude, compared with the non-sinusoidal graph produced by the larger displacement.
This item is part of a larger collection of simulation-based activities for introductory physics students. See Related Materials on this page for a link to the full index of simulations designed by this author to support first semester introductory physics curriculum.
