written by Benjamin Crowell
This is the home site of Light and Matter Physics, a series of introductory textbooks available online at no cost. The books are intended for a one-year algebra- or calculus-based course. Applications of calculus are treated in optional sections at the end of certain chapters. The primary subjects include Newtonian Physics, Conservation Laws, Vibrations and Waves, Electricity and Magnetism, Optics, and The Modern Revolution in Physics. The author built the  storyline of each text around the behavior and interactions of light and matter. Additional free textbooks are available at a conceptual physics level.

The resource is part of an effort is to provide high quality physics textbooks for free download and editing.
