This is a collection of more than 50 short biographies on some of the most important figures in the history of electricity and magnetism. Most of the biographies include links to interactive Java simulations of the devices invented by these individuals. For example, the Coulomb biography includes a simulation of the torsion balance; the Volta biography offers a simulation of his first battery (known as the voltaic pile). The materials are appropriate for a wide range of users, including middle school, high school, college, and general public.

The Magnet Academy is part of a large collection of web-based educational materials for K-20, developed by the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory at Florida State University.
