This site from the Exploratorium provides an activity in static electricity.  Everyday materials – a Plexiglas™ sheet, a piece of wool cloth, and puffed rice – are used to show the effect of electrical forces between charged objects.  The site contains a description of the procedure and an explanation of the physics involved.
