The Astronomy Center has provided educational resources to introductory astronomy educators since 2003. Over the past 20 years, the rapid pace of discovery has rendered some of our linked resources obsolete. Thus, the Astronomy Center will be decommissioned on March 1, 2022. Our highest quality resources will be retained on ComPADRE.org.

Website Detail Page

published by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey
This section of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey's website provides an excellent explanation of how Astronomers are able to use red-shift to explain the expansion of the universe. An activity is provided for a user to retrace Edwin Hubble's steps of measuring magnitudes and calculating redshifts to make a Hubble Diagram.

These pages are part of a large set of projects and activities provided by the Sloan Digital Sky Survey for advanced astronomy students.
