The Astronomy Center has provided educational resources to introductory astronomy educators since 2003. Over the past 20 years, the rapid pace of discovery has rendered some of our linked resources obsolete. Thus, the Astronomy Center will be decommissioned on March 1, 2022. Our highest quality resources will be retained on ComPADRE.org.
Galaxy Zoo is an ongoing research project to classify millions of galaxies. The website has a short tutorial to teach the user how to classify the galaxies. Once the user has passed a trial proving the ability to do so, the user is allowed to create an account and save the classified to Galaxy Zoo's database. The images being classified come from the SDSS (Sloan Digital Sky Survey).
