The Astronomy Center has provided educational resources to introductory astronomy educators since 2003. Over the past 20 years, the rapid pace of discovery has rendered some of our linked resources obsolete. Thus, the Astronomy Center will be decommissioned on March 1, 2022. Our highest quality resources will be retained on ComPADRE.org.
This website's main objective is to instruct the user on the phenomenon of Occulations. It starts off by explaining what an occulation is and giving examples of it: eclipses, transits, etc. The importance of occulations is then explained by three main phenomena: occulations by the Moon, occulations by asteroids and binary star occulation. In all of these cases the main obective of study are sizes and shapes of the interacting objects. A calendar and a table of occulations are provided for different objects, along with a resource list.
