Over the past 20 years, the rapid pace of discovery has rendered some of our linked resources obsolete. Thus, the Astronomy Center will be decommissioned on March 1, 2022. This web page provides an examination of Earth's magnetosphere and physical phenomena related to it. Subject matter includes the motion of charges in the Earth's magnetic field and the magnetosphere's interaction with the polar aurora and solar wind. A short history of he discovery of the magnetosphere is also included. This page is part of a larger science education site, "From Stargazers to Starships."
