The purpose of this experiment is to familiarize the student with the basic techniques to use in checking for proper system arrangement and response with oscilloscopes and pulse generators.
The system used in this experiment includes a group of Nuclear Instrumentation Modules (NIM) that are basic to many experiments: a preamplifier, an amplifier, a threshold discriminator, a single-channel analyzer (SCA) a counter, and an oscilloscope.
It is part of Ortec's AN34 Publication, a collection of nuclear physics experiments for undergraduate laboratories.
