AFCEA STEM Teacher's Scholarships

| Description: | The AFCEA Educational Foundation is offering 50 scholarships of $5,000 each to students actively pursuing an undergraduate degree, graduate degree or credential/licensure for the purpose of teaching STEM (science, technology, engineering or math) subjects at a U.S. middle or secondary school. The scholarships are made possible by generous contributions from Booz Allen Hamilton, Terremark Worldwide, AFCEA International and several of AFCEA's regional chapters. In addition to the $5,000 scholarship, each graduating AFCEA STEM Scholar can receive a $1,000 AFCEA Science Teaching Tools grant each year for three years if the recipient continues teaching a STEM subject. These grants can be used to fund hardware and software, other classroom tools, field trips, STEM-focused clubs and other activities. To be eligible, students must be U.S. citizens with a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent). Undergraduate candidates must be attending an accredited U.S. college or university on-campus and majoring in secondary education or a STEM field for the purpose of teaching STEM subjects in a U.S. middle or secondary school. Undergraduate applications will be accepted from current sophomores and juniors. Graduate-level candidates must be currently enrolled in at least two semester-equivalent classes at an accredited U.S. college or university. | Other Comments: | Undergraduate students must be enrolled full time as a traditional student at an accredited college or university in the United States and majoring in secondary education for the purpose of teaching STEM subjects in a U.S. middle or secondary school. Undergraduate applications will be accepted from current sophomore and junior students - minimum second-year students only. Graduate candidates must be currently enrolled in at least two (semester-equivalent) classes at an accredited U.S. college or university. Credential/licensure students must be U.S. citizens with a completed B.S. degree in a STEM major. PLEASE NOTE: In addition to the online application, other required documents include two letters of recommendation from relevant faculty. If currently employed as a teacher, one additional letter from the school principal must be submitted. Instructions for electronic submission of the recommendation letters will be provided to endorsers as part of the on-line application process - please do not mail separately.
