| Description: | The Gates Millennium Scholars Program was established in 1999 with a 1.6 grant to the United Negro College Fund from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to provide outstanding African-American, American Indian/Alaska native, Asian Pacific Islander American, and Hispanic/Latino American students with an opportunity to complete their undergraduate education. The Gates Millennium Scholars Program is a leadership program, and an the scholarship covers the student's UNMET need, and awards are determined by GMS based on financial need. |
