| Description: | The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities will host a 10-week summer research program for undergraduates in Electrical and Computer Engineering from June 1 to August 9, 2008. Eight students are matched with faculty mentors to work on exciting, cutting-edge research projects in all fields of electrical and computer engineering including biomedical engineering, computer engineering and VLSI design, control systems, magnetic recording technology, microelectronics materials and devices, nanotechnology, optics and photonics, power systems and electronics, and signal processing and communications. In addition to the laboratory research experience, students will participate in weekly group meetings, tours of local high-tech industries and social activities. The group meetings will expose students to current research by UMN faculty, give the students an opportunity to present their own 20-minute research talks, and offer assistance with graduate school and career preparation. The program concludes with a Summer Undergraduate Research Showcase and poster presentation. We encourage independent, motivated undergraduates majoring in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, physics, mathematics and related fields to apply. Women, underrepresented minorities and students from colleges and universities without significant research opportunities are strongly encouraged to apply. |
