| Description: | During the program, students work with a scientist or engineer on a project related to the laboratory's research program. SLAC is a world-renowned center with research opportunities in physics, chemistry, materials and environmental sciences, scientific computing, and in many engineering fields. Student projects range from solar-cell technology to astrophysics, from cancer drug research to particle physics and accelerator design, and from biocompatibility of medical devices to ultrafast (femtosecond) phenomena. Students also participate in a program of scientific lectures and tours. The summer 2008 program at SLAC will be for 8 weeks from June 23 - August 15. An additional 1 week of participation through August 22 is optional, but encouraged. Students are expected to participate for the full eight or nine weeks of the program. |

| Additional Information: | SLAC is funded through the United States Department of Energy and they have strict regulations about interns being either a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident Alien.
