| Description: | We have been funded by the National Science Foundation to provide a 10 week intensive program teaching Sociocultural anthropological scientific research methods to students who are members of groups typically underrepresented on college campuses, including ethnic minorites and first-generation college students (for whom neither parent graduated from college). Our goal is twofold: to help promote the development of underrepresented, and first -generation students as future social scientists; and to develop a collaborative articulation with the University's McNair Program or other research mentoring programs to prepare first-generation, low-income and underrepresented students for graduate education in anthropology or other social sciences. |
