| Description: | The Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Program provides opportunities for undergraduates to engage in hands-on materials-related research at Northwestern University for 9 weeks over the summer. Participants come from major universities and small colleges around the country. Each participant is paired up with a faculty member and a graduate student or postdoctoral mentor based on mutual research interests. Our research areas include: polymers, gels, copolymers, nanoscience, nanoparticle and nanowire synthesis, nanotube sorting, plasmonics, electronic structure calculation, multiferroics, ceramics, transparent conducting oxides, molecular electronics and biomaterials. Experimental, theoretical and simulation projects are available each summer. The 2010 program dates are June 21 to August 20. |
