| Description: | NASA Offers Cutting-Edge Research & Leadership Opportunities to College Students Are you a college student interested in becoming a leader in the aerospace program? The NASA Ames Academy program provides a strong technical foundation through which leadership potential can develop among academically strong and diverse student populations. The NASA Ames Space Exploration Academy summer institute provides students with opportunities to interact with the government, academia and private sector, each of which plays a critical role in how NASA operates. The Ames Academy is located at the NASA Ames Research Center near San Jose, California. The academy provides a rich academic experience that includes: group project, guided laboratory research with a Principal Investigator, seminars and colloquia, NASA site and university visits, posters and presentations and meetings with prominent professionals. Criteria for selection includes: - Academic excellence - Demonstrated leadership - Demonstrated interest in space - Appropriate background for selected research tasks - Two recommendations Twelve students will be selected to attend the 10-week summer program at Ames. Applications are now being accepted until January 16, 2007. Student selections will be completed by February 22.
