The selected Professor/Student pairs will become involved in one of the following research thrusts:
• Magnetic interactions in patterned nanostructures
• Magnetism and applications of cluster-assembled structures
• Electronic structure and nanomagnetic studies of interfaces and heterostructures
• Quantum conductance and magnetoresistance in nanocontacts
• Novel ferromagnetic/organic ferroelectric heterostructures
• "Seed" thrusts in
- fabrication of carbon nanotube spintronic transistors,
- electronic structure of magnetic clusters and nanotubes, and
- preparation, characterization and fundamental thermodynamic properties of nanocluster ensembles.
