| Description: | We offer a 10 week research internship on projects relating to Solar and Heliospheric Physics. Students have a range of projects from analyzing satellite data to performing model calculations. Students study the dynamic Sun from the high-energy particles in the solar wind to the quiet Sun and its relation to dynamo theory. We understand that Solar Physics is a combination of many sub-disciplines, fluid dynamics, atomic physics,plasma physics, astronomy, etc. so basic physics courses are a pre-requisite but solar specific physics will be taught throughout the summer. Students will be provided housing and a stipend as well as reimbursement for travel. Students also have the opportunity to attend a science conference during the school year if their schedule and funding permit. |
