The Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (IPAM) runs a unique summer program for undergraduate students. RIPS, Research in Industrial Projects for Students, provides an opportunity for exceptional students in math and related disciplines to work in teams on real-world research projects proposed by a sponsor from industry or a national lab. Sponsors have included Pixar, Microsoft, Symantec, Los Alamos, Arete, The Spielberg Family Center for Applied Proteomics, and JPL among others. This year besides the program in Los Angeles, we will also have a program in Beijing and Berlin.
