| Description: | The Montana State University Materials Research and LASER REU (Research Experience Undergraduates) program seeks applicants for the summer of 2009. This program is made possible with funds from the National Science Foundation. Up to ten positions will be offered to undergraduates; students who have finished at least freshmen year physics will be considered. A wide range of research topics in Condensed Matter Physics, LASER Physics, Biophysics, and Fuel Cell Research (see web page for details) are available for study with 9 participating faculty. The program is ten weeks long, and overlaps with other summer programs on campus (about 150 students total). A weekly seminar is geared toward expanding participant knowledge about topics, careers and ethics in science. Three to four group outings help participants experience the beautiful Northern Rocky Mountain Region surrounding Bozeman. On-campus housing is provided as is a partial meal plan and round-trip travel to Bozeman. |
